Prof. Tapas Mallick is Co-founder, Director and Scientific Advisor of BuildSolar Limited, also Professor and Chair in Clean Technologies, Renewable Energy and Lead of the Solar Energy Research Group within the Environment & Sustainability Institute, University of Exeter. He is also Visiting Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. Prof. Mallick is a world-renowned academic in the area of Building Integrated Photovoltaics, having a research portfolio of over £20m from various research organisations and publishing over 400 research articles in the area. His research on low-concentration linear 1D, 2D and 3D optical devices for the use of building applications provided new pathways for developing building-integrated concentrated photovoltaics (BICPV) technologies.
In addition, Prof. Mallick is also Associate Editor and Subject Editor of the Journals Energies and IET Renewable Power Generation, who has a strong relationship with many ODA countries spanning across the Indian continent, the Middle East, and the sub-Saharan African continent. He has supervised thirty-two PhDs to completion and engaged several governmental-level panels across the world. He was the recipient of the British Indian Award for services to Education in the UK in 2016, and in 2018 BuildSolar received the Best Innovation for Sustainability award in Cornwall. Prof. Mallick gave over eighty talks into over twenty countries around the world.
